long time no post
We had a great time discussing Cutting For Stone by Abraham Verghese in December. For next time, we're reading The Three Weissmanns of Westport by Cathleen Schine.

Okay, so our blog is a little outdated. We met last night to discuss Olive Kitteridge at Ann's house. Our next proposed meeting date is either August 11 or 12 and the homework is to come ready to discuss something you read, and enjoyed, so we can create our reading list for the fall.

New Yorker cartoon

I love The New Yorker but have trouble, one, with reading them in a timely fashion and, two, throwing away the cartoons that I snipped out. Here is a favorite. The caption is as follows, "Well, instead of discussing the book we could discuss why none of us had time to read it."
Phew, now I can recycle it!
I gather we are meeting on 4/28/10 to discuss The Last Chinese Chef by Nicole Mones. Not sure of place or food provider.
Oh, and we should not read Olive Kitteridge next since the PPL fiction book group is discussing it on May 13th so most of their copies will be checked out.
P.S. I have an interesting article about Paul Auster and his books to bring to the April meeting.

February and March
I guess we haven't updated things in awhile. It was great to see everyone last night and discuss The Help. For next time, we selected The Man in the Dark by Paul Auster.
In addition to the books listed below, we also have Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris.
Our next meeting date is March 10th.
